- PRA Group. They buy mostly old debts that are stat barred which means the creditor can no longer sue you for the debt and often times the debt can no longer be reported to the credit bureau because it is too old. They take advantage of people's lack of knowledge of their rights using intimidating language such as "you *must* call us about this debt" in their letters. The truth is you do NOT have to call at all. If you call they will try to trick you into acknowledging the old debt and if you do that or even if you make a partial payment, you will RESET the statue of limitations. Best advice is to ignore them and keep blocking their numbers. If you are really are tired of them calling file a complaint against them (you do so in most provinces) and they will take your number off their calling list.
